Stay Safe in Kingston: A Full Class, Practical Skills, and Pizza!

Twenty students, a lively classroom, and plenty of opportunities to learn together—our Red Cross Stay Safe! course in Kingston was full this weekend, and we loved welcoming such an enthusiastic group.

Stay Safe! is the Canadian Red Cross’s version of the Home Alone program. At Push For Life, we bring that learning to life through activities that help kids think through everyday situations, make good decisions, and practise basic first aid skills.

Building confidence for time home alone

Being ready to stay home alone involves more than knowing how to lock the door. It means thinking about what could happen, recognizing when help is needed, and making thoughtful choices.

This weekend’s students took part in activities that encouraged them to explore those decisions together. A lively group brings lots of perspectives—and opportunities to learn from one another!

Alongside home alone safety, participants practised basic first aid skills, building knowledge they can use at home and beyond.

Congratulations to all 20 students on completing their Stay Safe! course! We hope you’re proud of what you learned.

A little support for parents, too

Weekends can be busy enough without adding another packed lunch to the list. That’s why Push For Life includes a pizza lunch with our Stay Safe! course.

Kids get a chance to enjoy lunch with their classmates, while parents have one less thing to organize. It’s a small touch that helps make the day easier for families.

We also work with families to accommodate allergies and food sensitivities. A special thank-you to Toppers Pizza in Kingston for helping us offer dairy-free and wheat-free options.

Please let us know about dietary needs when registering so we can discuss suitable arrangements for your child.

Local learning in a welcoming space

Helping kids become more independent is a big step for families. We’re happy to support that step with a welcoming environment, practical learning, and room for questions.

As a local, family-owned training company, we love seeing young people in our community develop skills they can carry into everyday life. This weekend was a wonderful reminder of how much learning can happen when kids are engaged, encouraged, and having fun.

Thank you to the families who trusted us with their children’s learning—and to our students for bringing so much energy to the day!
